Creative UK and the IST are excited to introduce a new Professional Registration Framework for the technical workforce within the creative industries and technologies. Endorsed by Creative UK, the Creative Registration Framework aims to provide parity of professional accreditation for creative technologists with colleagues working within the science and engineering sector workforces (e.g., professional registers offered by the Science Council and the Engineering Council).
For the first time ever, individuals working in the creative sector, can receive the recognition they deserve as professional practitioners; for their competence, knowledge and skills, attitude, social responsibility and professional integrity.
The framework offers an entire level, a mid-career level and advanced level made available to creative technologists within the Higher Education and Industry sector.
Accreditation Frameworks:
| RTCIT | RPCIT | APCIT | registration is exclusively available to IST members – Applicants who are not already IST members will need to join the IST.
IST membership can be applied for at the same time as applying for registration, or membership can be setup separately before an application is submitted, whichever method is easiest for you.

*The IST will be accepting applications for assessment from 16th April 2026
- As an entry level career professional or student you may wish to apply for the Registered Technician level.
- As a mid career specialist you may wish to apply for the Registered Practitioner level.
- As a leader and expert in your field you may wish to apply for the Advanced Practitioner level.
Application Process:
- Become an IST Member (MIScT, FIScT)
- Identify a Supporter
- Contact: registrations@istonline.org.uk
- Complete Registration Application Form and pay fees
- In your application don’t forget:
- Complete the Competencies Form (Evidence Skills)
- Enclose your current Curriculum vitae (CV)
- Enclose a scan of your Qualification or complete Equivalency Report
- Complete a PPD Record (of the past year)
- Look at guidance documents for help and ask IST for mentoring and feedback if necessary
