
Associate Member (AssocIScT)
Building professional recognition. Demonstrating capability. Strengthening your technical career.
Associate Membership is designed for developing professionals who have established foundational qualifications and are building meaningful workplace experience in STEMM, Creative Technologies, Artificial Intelligence and technical disciplines.
This grade recognises applied competence and professional progression.
Who is Associate Membership for?
Associate Membership is open to individuals who are:
- Holders of a Level 2 qualification (or above) in a STEMM, Creative or technical discipline
- In the early stages of professional practice with at least two years of relevant work experience
- Developing applied competence in a workplace or technical environment
- Building confidence in professional standards and technical responsibility
If you have completed foundational training and are actively gaining real-world experience, Associate Membership recognises your progression into professional practice.
Associate members are entitled to use the post-nominal letters AssocIScT. This grade reflects both knowledge and applied practice.
Associate Subscription Fee: £44.00 per annum
** Please note that IST professional membership subscriptions of employees are eligible for tax relief, under Section 344 of the Income Tax (Earnings and Pensions) Act 2003. Claims need to be made by members individually directly via HMRC
Progression Pathway
Associate Membership is part of a structured professional pathway.
Members may apply to upgrade to Member (MIScT) following approved professional development and increased professional responsibility.
Applications can be submitted by email to memberships@istonline.org.uk using the standard application form which is available for download below (scanned copies of qualification certificates submitted by email are accepted).

Payment of subscriptions can be via*:
