The Institute of Science & Technology is the professional body for specialist, technical and managerial staff. Whilst we have been serving our members for over 75 years, our aim is to continually move forward and expand our horizons so that we can best position ourselves to support our members, and the wider technical community, in respect of their needs within the ever-changing and challenging 21st century.
We reach out to provide focused support for technical practitioners, specialists and managers in the creative, digital, AI, engineering and science technologies, working across a broad range of sectors including industry, local authorities, schools, FE, HE, research/analytical/health facilities, government departments and organisations in the UK and overseas.
We are proud to announce that we hold the registers for AI professionals (RTechAI, RPAI, APAI) and Creative professionals (RPCiT) for individuals working across those essential sectors. We are also licensed by the Science Council to award to their science/technical registers at Chartered Scientist (CSci), Registered Scientist (RSci) and Registered Science Technician (RSciTech) levels.
We have held the IST Technical Conference every year for the last 10 years, and we pride ourselves on being able to support the technical community to be inspired by industry leaders, discover the latest trends and technologies, and network with old and new colleagues. The Conference is for individuals working in all sectors (across the UK and Overseas), and we welcome individuals to come forward to play a vital role in being part of the Conference, no matter how big or small. We move the Conference around each year to ensure that all members of the IST and technical community have the opportunity to attend.
We encourage all members of the technical community to take advantage of our publications; The Tech Magazine and The Journal, to begin a journey towards publishing articles of interest, research or opinions.
We also encourage members of the technical community to make the most of our groups, including viewing important news and attending flash workshops and seminars. Groups available to take part in are; AI Group, Women in Tech Group, Scottish Network Group (link coming soon).
Thanks to our partners, IST members gain FREE access to CPD Central (Created by National Technician Development Centre), and through HEaTED, we can offer brand new AI courses. We are also in the process of releasing many new valuable training opportunities in Artificial Intelligence.
