Novel Junior Advertising Creative Apprenticeship Cohort

Supporting the Next Generation of Creative Talent

Bauer Academy, in collaboration with McCann, announced recently the launch of a new cohort of Junior Advertising Creative Level 3 apprentices. This initiative welcomes 12 talented apprentices from McCann’s offices across four UK locations: London, Manchester, Bristol, and Birmingham.

Following an industry review last year, the Junior Advertising Creative apprenticeship standard has been updated to align with the evolving demands of the sector. The refreshed curriculum ensures that learners acquire essential skills to excel in today’s dynamic creative environment.

Industry Support and Endorsement

Gwyn March, CPD Adviser at the Institute Of Practitioners In Advertising (IPA), praised the initiative:
“We at the IPA are thrilled to see the outcome of the dedication and collaboration of several Trailblazer member agencies who have refined the Junior Advertising Creative apprenticeship standard. The improved funding band is a significant achievement for the industry. McCann’s commitment to a nationwide programme supports a diverse cohort of apprentices and enriches the creative landscape.”

Comprehensive Training for Future Creatives

Throughout the programme, apprentices will engage in a blend of theoretical learning and practical application, gaining expertise in:

  • Creative idea generation
  • Multi-media storytelling
  • Effective communication and pitching
  • Strategic advertising insights

They will also work on live business projects, guided by industry professionals from Bauer Academy and McCann, ensuring hands-on experience and real-world application of their learning.

Industry Leaders Speak on the Initiative

Courtnay McLeod, Bauer Academy Director, highlighted the importance of the programme:
“We’re excited to partner with McCann on this initiative. As the advertising industry continues to evolve rapidly, ensuring that training standards keep pace is crucial. Apprenticeships provide a unique opportunity for individuals to apply their newly acquired skills in real-time, and we’re proud to support the next generation of creative talent at McCann.”

Ollie Purdom, People and Talent Director at McCann Central, emphasised their commitment to nurturing young talent:
“Apprenticeships are a vital part of our talent strategy. By offering hands-on experience and expert mentorship, we aim to empower young creatives while shaping the future of our industry.”

Opportunities: Open Cohort Launch

Bauer Academy was the first training provider to introduce this apprenticeship standard. Looking ahead, an Open Cohort for the Junior Advertising Creative Level 3 programme will be available, allowing employers with one or a small number of apprentices to enrol their talent into the scheme.
