IST Fellow to speak at Chatham House

Members Event: 3rd March 6pm – 7pm

One of our Fellows, Marie Oldfield MSc CSci CStat FIScT will be participating in a session on “The application and misapplication of artificial Intelligence” at Chatham House.

Increasingly prominent, AI has become a vital tool in the economic, security and social development for countries around the globe.  Labelled as an essential technological asset, AI has regularly been positioned at the forefront of government and business modernization plans.  According to Forbes, $125bn will be spent on AI software by 2025.  This has driven the need for an increasing AI skillset to support adoption.

But as AI’s application and rapid deployment continues to increase, many are now questioning the application of unproven and opaque AI systems in critical roles.

The session will be analysing successful artificial intelligence (AI) strategies and adoption against the threats posed by their misuse.
