We’re thrilled to celebrate the Manchester Metropolitan University Promotion Pathways Project Team who have been awarded the Research Culture Award at the University’s Festival of Research. The team won the award for their sector leading technical professional promotion pathways and in particular their research Technical Professional (RTP) Pathway. Developed in partnership with the National Technician Development Centre, the pathway spotlights and recognises RTP’s research contributions, embedding a culture where shared expertise and co-creation are key to success. The pathway promotes a research culture in which all members of the research team are empowered to excel increasing research quality and impact.

One of their nominators wrote:
“The RTP pathway is a powerful statement about the importance Manchester Met places on technical and technology skills and expertise. For years, technical staff like myself have been integral to the success of research, yet career progression and recognition often felt opaque. Our contribution to research delivery is no longer simply assumed; it is explicitly acknowledged, rewarded and celebrated. By embracing the research team and explicitly valuing technical expertise alongside academic contributions, Manchester Met is fostering a more inclusive and dynamic environment. This is more than just a policy; it’s a commitment to a culture where shared learning, diverse perspectives, and co-creation are central to excellence.”
