We’re thrilled to celebrate Dr Karen Henderson, Director of Research and Innovation at the University of Reading – and proud IST Fellow – who has been awarded an MBE in the King’s Birthday Honours List for her outstanding services to Higher Education.
Karen’s leadership has been nothing short of transformative. From championing technical careers to driving national apprenticeship standards and embedding true inclusion, she’s a tireless advocate for the technical community. Her work has opened doors for many and set a benchmark for excellence across the UK sector.
Whether it’s her role in the Technician Commitment, creating routes into professional registration, mentoring award-winning talent, or enabling access for underrepresented groups – Karen leads with vision, integrity and heart.
We’re proud to have Karen as an IST Fellow and to witness her impact across the technical profession.
