Our Partnership with Creative UK

A shared commitment to recognising technical excellence.

The Creative Industries & Technologies Register has been developed to recognise and celebrate the technical professionals who make creativity possible.

From production studios and performance venues to museums, universities, broadcasters, creative technology companies and cultural organisations, technical expertise underpins every part of the UK’s creative economy. These professionals design, build, operate, maintain and innovate the systems, environments and technologies that enable creative work to thrive.

We are proud to work in partnership with Creative UK, whose support and endorsement reflects a shared belief in the importance of recognising technical talent across the creative sector.

Stronger Together

Creative UK has long championed the people, organisations and networks that drive the UK’s creative industries. Through this partnership, we are helping to raise the visibility of technical careers, strengthen professional recognition and support the development of a highly skilled workforce for the future.

Together, we recognise that creativity and technology are inseparable. Behind every performance, production, exhibition, digital experience, immersive environment, broadcast, game or creative innovation is a community of skilled technical professionals whose expertise makes it possible.

By working collaboratively, we can ensure that these individuals receive the recognition, professional status and development opportunities they deserve.

Supporting Technical Professionals Wherever They Work

The register has particular significance for the many technical professionals working within higher education, where specialist staff play a vital role in teaching, learning, research, production and innovation.

A good representation of members of the Creative UK community work in universities, colleges and specialist institutions, supporting the next generation of creative practitioners while also contributing directly to industry-facing projects and partnerships.

At the same time, the register has been designed for technical professionals working across the full breadth of the creative industries, including:

The 12 UK Creative Industries Sub-sectors

Wherever technical professionals build their careers, the register provides a framework for recognising competence, professional practice and leadership.

Celebrating Professional Achievement

The register recognises technical professionals at different stages of their careers through:

  • Registered Technician (RTCIT) – recognising competent technical practice and developing expertise.
  • Registered Practitioner (RPCIT) – recognising experienced professionals exercising independent judgement and specialist knowledge.
  • Advanced Practitioner (APCIT) – recognising senior technical leaders shaping projects, organisations and the future direction of the sector.

These professional titles help demonstrate achievement, commitment and professional standing, while providing employers, institutions and industry partners with confidence in the capability and expertise of registered individuals.

Looking Ahead

Our partnership with Creative UK represents more than an endorsement. It reflects a shared commitment to championing technical excellence, strengthening professional identity and ensuring that the people who enable creativity are recognised alongside the creative outputs they help bring to life.

Together, we are helping to build a stronger, more visible and more connected technical community across the UK’s creative industries, one that values expertise, encourages progression and inspires future generations to pursue technical careers at the heart of creativity.
