Apprenticeships and T Levels
Build Skills. Gain Experience. Shape Your Future.
Whether you’re taking your first step into a technical career or looking for a practical route to develop new skills, Apprenticeships and T Levels provide a powerful combination of learning and real-world experience.
These pathways allow you to earn, learn and grow while developing the knowledge, technical expertise and professional behaviours that employers value.
At the Institute of Science & Technology (IST), we are passionate about supporting the next generation of technical professionals and helping individuals build successful, rewarding careers across science, technology, engineering, creative industries, artificial intelligence and many other sectors.
What is an Apprenticeship and T Level?
Brief overview of apprenticeships and T-Levels
T Levels and Apprenticeships are two exciting, hands-on routes into skilled employment, each offering a different way to learn and grow. Apprenticeships are job-based and built around national standards set by employers, ensuring you gain the exact skills needed for a specific role. T Levels combine classroom learning with a substantial industry placement and are designed with employers to prepare you for work, further study, or an apprenticeship. Both pathways are shaped by real-world needs – helping you build confidence, knowledge, and experience for the future.

Valuing All Routes into Technical Careers
At the IST, we recognise that there is no single pathway into a successful technical profession.
Whether you progress through an apprenticeship, T Level, college programme, university degree, workplace learning or a combination of routes, what matters is the knowledge, skills, experience and professionalism you develop along the way.
We are committed to supporting vocational and technical education and championing the vital contribution that technicians make across science, technology, engineering, creative industries, healthcare, artificial intelligence and beyond.
Technical careers deserve the same recognition, visibility and opportunities as any other professional pathway.
