The Technician Commitment is now six years old, and much progress has been made in those years and the initiative is thriving.
The Technician Commitment, backed by the Science Council and the Gatsby Foundation, is a university and research institution initiative. It is aimed at providing technicians with visibility, recognition, career growth, and sustainability in higher education and research across all fields.
Universities and research institutes can become signatories of the Technician Commitment and pledge to address the challenges faced by their technical staff, and to date over 100 institutions have signed up to the network, and there are more to follow. The Commitment aims to ensure that technical skills are fully utilized and that technicians have opportunities for growth and career development.
