Creative Professional Registers

Endorsed by Creative UK, the Creative Registration Framework aims to provide parity of professional accreditation for creative technologists with colleagues working within the science and engineering sector workforces.
For the first time ever, individuals working in the creative sector, can receive the recognition they deserve as professional practitioners; for their competence, knowledge and skills, attitude, social responsibility and professional integrity.
STEMM Professional Registers
The IST is proud to be licensed by the Science Council to award three prestigious registrations: Registered Science Technician (RSciTech), Registered Scientist (RSci), and Chartered Scientist (CSci).
These registers provide formal, independent recognition for professionals working within STEMM who meet and uphold rigorous standards, joining a global community committed to excellence in science and technical practice.

Registration Process
The application process for all three professional registers follows a consistent structure, with minor variations in detail that are outlined within each register’s guidance pages. Applicants must be members of a recognised professional body and are required to submit evidence of relevant competencies and prior continuing professional development (CPD) activities.
Competency examples should reflect authentic, first-hand experience, and applicants are expected to demonstrate responsibilities that align with the grade level for which they are applying.
The IST is committed to supporting individuals throughout the process, ensuring that, wherever possible, applicants are guided toward the most appropriate level of accreditation for their experience and aspirations.

Renewal of Registration
Annual renewal of professional registration is required and this inolves payment for Licenced Body Membership (IST) and the relevant registration fees associated with the registration framework. Where possible the IST aims to send out reminders when renewals are due to be done, but responsibility for ensuring that renewal is completed in a timely fashion remains with individual registrants.
