If you have recently begun your science technology journey, congratulations! You’re starting your career with decades of exciting times ahead of you. With so much to look forward to, consider also that your fresh perspectives are important today. Being close to new technology, new ideas, and the current reality of learning new skills, means that your experience matters. For this reason, think about bringing your thoughts and ideas to the attention of others by publishing them in one of the Institute’s publications. Blog posts such as the one that you are currently reading provide a means of communicating relatively short notes, but there are more expansive alternatives. The Institute’s premier online publications, The Tech Magazine and The Journal are perfect for allowing a more thorough examination of important ideas and concepts.
In addition to giving back to the Institute, having your article appear in one of its publications enhances your own career development. At the very least, you could develop a writing talent that you may not know that you possess. Submitted articles are reviewed by members of the Editorial Board, and they will ensure that accepted articles are presented in the best possible light. Having your article published online provides you with a worldwide readership and automatically raises your visibility and credibility among your colleagues, managers and future employers. It’s easy to add article links to your CV and to your choice of social media platforms. Further, submitting your article to the Institute and having it published online will demonstrate your initiative, commitment and willingness to share your experiences for the good of the Institute membership.
In fact, knowledge sharing benefits all parties. With the Institute’s international reach, sharing what you know, along with your positive and negative experiences, could help others around the world. An article about a project that you are involved with, or methods that you are helping to develop can both educate and inspire. In composing my own articles for the Institute, I have striven to achieve these same goals and I’ve been fortunate in having some success. My early writing for the Institute dates back to the 1990s, and latterly in the 2020s I have very much appreciated the support of Editor JP Ashton-Kinlin and other members of the Editorial Board.

You have already demonstrated your own commitment to technology by joining the Institute, so why not take another important step forward and submit an article for publication in The Tech Magazine or The Journal?
The future of the Institute and of science and technology in general will be shaped not only by new experiences and ideas, but by those willing to share them. Your experience, insight and writing talent could help and guide Institute members and inspire others to generate their own ideas and submit their own articles.
Look at this as your time to shine, so write here, right now!
