There will be much to choose from in the four parallel sessions with a wide range of subjects of interest, including sessions for Estates; Environmental & Energy; Equipment & Procurement; Health & Safety; Senior Managers; Teaching and Technical Support within science organisations, and Design and Mechanical & Electrical amongst vendors. Many of the sessions will be from the short-listed applicants from the S-Lab Awards 2013.
Recent programme additions include a session by S-Lab technical advisor and BSI Technical Committee chair Mike Dockery on ‘Common (and Costly) Mistakes in Lab Design and How to Avoid Them’; a session and tour of the Active Learning Laboratory at Liverpool’s School of Engineering; a session on ‘Reinventing Research Space and Activity: Open Innovation and Industry-University Collaboration’; and a presentation by Richard Jackson (former Head of Sustainability at the Olympic Delivery Agency) on applying Olympics experience to UCL laboratories.
