Recently we have been involved with the HEaTED Project which aims to consolidate, promote and expand participation in professional development activities for HE technical staff, by working with both the technical and staff development communities in addressing the needs of all key stakeholders. The IST obviously has an interest in this project and will be fully involved in terms of the project outcomes and deliverables.
We are delighted to announce that very soon you will be able to access a new and innovative site designed to bring the Higher Education Technical/Specialist community together across the whole of the UK via a specialist Virtual Learning Environment for HEATED which will do a number of things, which are
- provide a range of generic learning resources that can be accessed freely by all members
- provide a discussion forum where members can network with colleagues with similar specialisms and issues, and receive the help and support they need for their specific job roles
- provide detailed information on UK wide and regional learning and development events for Technical Specialists and information on the ISTs CPD scheme
- set up a mentoring programme where colleagues in different organisation with similar roles can make contact and share practice
- and finally but most importantly keep you informed of all HEATED and IST initiatives
There are a number of HEATED and IST initiatives, and information on all of these will be easily on this new HEaTED site.
This is an exciting time for technical/specialists and we hope you will join us and benefit greatly from using this new site, and that you will also participate by contributing with your knowledge. Your skills and knowledge are crucial to your employer and to us as an organisation, and your access to appropriate quality learning and development opportunities is therefore key to delivering good support services, and we are confident that this approach will provide you with a first point of contact to learning and networking.
